Aamir Khan

Aamir Khan, born on 14th March, 1965 is currently a leading Bollywood actor. He is known to be a ‘perfectionist’ mainly because he closely chooses and selects his movies. He is the only actor in Bollywood who will take up only one Bollywood project in a year while most of the other actors take about 3 to 5 projects in a year.

Aamir Khan is not only an actor, but also a producer and director of movies. He started his acting career as a child artist in the movie ‘Yaadon Ki Baarat’ (1973). He was only 8 years then. His father Tahir Hussein was a film producer while his uncle Nasir Hussein was a film director and producer. His father's family is originally from Afghanistan.

It was in the year 1988 that he began his acting career as an adult. His role as ‘Raj’ in the movie ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’ as a debut actor was a breakthrough commercial success which made Aamir Khan a household name as a ‘chocolate actor’. Aamir Khan also won the Filmfare award for his performance in the movie. He has since acted in more than 30 films till date. He has two children, son Junaid and daughter Ira, from first wife Reena Dutta whom he married in 1986. After 16 long years in 2002, they filed for divorce and Khan went on to marry Kiran Rao in the year 2005. She was the assistant director for the film ‘Lagaan’ which won a nomination for an Academy Award and Khan also won the Best actor award for this film.

His current television series talk show ‘Satyamev Jayte’ which just started on 6th of May, 2012 has the whole of Indian glued to their TV sets. The show runs every Sunday at 11 am on Star Plus, Star World and Doordarshan. It has gained positive reviews and is said to be the highest rated show on Indian Television. In the year 2011, Aamir Khan was appointed as the ambassador for UNICEF to promote child nutrition across the globe. He has his own production company known as ‘Aamir Khan Productions.’

Shahrukh Khan is known as the ‘King of Khans’ and a superstar. Born on 2nd November, 1965 to a Muslim family, he was the eldest among the two siblings. He has a younger sister Shehnaz. He has a bachelor’s degree in Economics. He actually began his acting career as a television actor in serials like Fauji and Circus during the late 1980s.

Seeing his acting ability, a leading Bollywood director Raj Kanwar offered him a role in his movie Deewana in the year 1992, which turned out to be a big box office hit. His career already started taking a huge leap and soon grabbed roles in various other movies such as Darr (1993), Baazigar (1993), Anjaam (1994). All the movies were super duper hits and he became a household name ever after. He has won as many as 14 Filmfare awards from a total of 30 nominations. Shahrukh Khan married Gauri Khan (previously Gauri Chibber) on the 25th October in the year 1991 even before any of his films got released. They have two children, son Aryan and daughter Suhana. He believes in both Allah and the Hindu religion as his wife is a Hindu and his children too follow both religions.

Shahrukh Khan is the co-owner of ‘Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR), an IPL cricket team and he has his own production house named ‘Red Chillies Entertainment’. He was awarded the Padma Shri in the year 2005 for his massive contribution to Indian cinema. Apart from the above companies, he is also the co-founder of a production company known as ‘Dreamz Unlimited’. Shahrukh Khan also hosted the TV show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ in the year 2007 which his similar to the UK version of ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire’?
